The ball was released by Hermes to mark the re-opening of their Beverley Hills boutique following renovation. The luxury brand responsible for one of the most famous purses ever made, the Birkin, have previously made footballs and soccer balls, but always in the traditional Hermes orange. Chavez explained the use of the blue as representing “…the sky, the ocean and the beautiful pools that are a way of life in LA”.
