So, Denny Hamlin was fined $25,000 by NASCAR on Thursday for commenting that the Gen-6 car “did not race as good as our Generation-5 cars”.
After issuing the fine to Hamlin, NASCAR said Hamlin’s comments were “dispariging” and said it “would not tolerate publically made comments by its drivers that denigrate the racing product”.
I can’t help but wonder……Did NASCAR really think that until Denny Hamlin made his comments we hadn’t noticed that the racing was dull? Because I certainly noticed that watching the Daytona 500 was like watching paint dry and to tell the honest truth, I didn’t bother watching the end of the Phoenix race (to be fair, I had to go to work – and watching motorsports in the office is frowned upon or something).
